About half of Vine Grove's homes went up in 2000 or later, per Census survey data. The median home here was built in 2001. On a newer lot, the job is often adding concrete: a patio out back, a wider drive or a walk to the door. At the town's older homes, the job is more often replacing a worn driveway, walk or steps.

Vine Grove is a home rule-class city in Hardin County, with the ZIP code 40175. The 2020 Census counted 6,559 people here, up from 4,520 in 2010. That is growth of about 45 percent in ten years.
Census survey data count 3,075 housing units in the city. The 2010s were the biggest building decade, with 1,040 units. That is about one in three of the homes standing today. About 7 in 10 occupied homes are lived in by their owners.
Owners of newer homes often add on as they settle in. A stamped concrete patio or a wider drive for a second car is a common first project. So are walks to a back gate and garage and shed slabs on a graded, compacted base.
Vine Grove has an older side too. Census survey data count 270 homes built in 1939 or earlier. About 1,230 more went up between 1940 and 1999.
Where the original concrete is still in place, it has been through many Kentucky winters. Driveway panels crack and sink at the joints, and front steps can pull away from the house.
Replacement starts with tearing out the old concrete. We grade and compact a fresh gravel base, then set the forms and pour. New concrete steps and sidewalks and walkways go in the same way, with a broom finish as the standard.
Vine Grove has its own Planning and Zoning Department. It processes and reviews building permits, zoning changes, record plats and dimensional variances, among other items. The city's Board of Adjustment hears requests for dimensional variances and conditional use permits.
The Kentucky Residential Code lists sidewalks and driveways among work that needs no building permit. A foundation is not on that list. City rules may still apply, so ask the city before a garage, an addition or a new drive entrance. The city answers setback and permit questions for your lot, and we point you there.
For concrete foundations and footings, the state code sets Hardin County's minimum frost depth at 24 inches. Our footing work covers additions, garages, porches and decks. Kentucky 811 says state law requires anyone who digs to contact it at least two full business days before breaking ground.
Brushy Fork drains Vine Grove west to Otter Creek. Otter Creek runs north along the city's western edge to the Ohio River. Optimist Park sits on 40 acres, and its walking trail follows part of Otter Creek.
On a lot that falls toward a creek or a ditch, rain needs somewhere to go. Our site grading sets the base and the fall before the forms go up. Water then runs off the slab and away from the house.
Main Street is KY 144, and Vine Grove City Hall sits on West Main Street. The Joe Prather Highway, KY 313, runs through the north side of the city. Scheible Park and Canaday Field, the two oldest parks in town, sit at Vine Grove Road and Knox Avenue.
Radcliff borders Vine Grove on the east, and Meade County borders it on the northwest. Fort Knox is 5 miles northeast, on the far side of Radcliff. See our pages on concrete work in Radcliff and concrete work in Elizabethtown, the county seat 11 miles southeast.
